Caelo Balanced Contact Sweet Iron Universal Horse Bit
An Australian designed bit for riders needing adjustable control without losing feel.
The Balanced Contact mouthpiece features a 3-piece lozenge design with a subtle locking mechanism that limits over-closure—reducing bar pressure and preventing the jaw squeeze seen in traditional jointed bits. It folds softly without collapsing onto the tongue, maintaining light, consistent support.
The Universal cheekpiece encourages a more balanced, responsive outline while offering support when horses become strong.
The Universal cheekpiece applies mild leverage, encouraging a slight head-down and chin-in response. Typically ridden on the middle ring, with the option to move to the lower ring when additional control is needed.
Particularly suited to horses that can run through the hand yet remain sensitive—such as those that come above the contact or react by lifting or fluttering in the contact when pressure becomes inconsistent.
- 14mm mouthpiece
- Universal cheekpiece with multiple rein options
- Sweet Iron
Commonly used for showjumping, polo, and polocrosse where a balance of control and responsiveness is required.
Often paired with a backstrap on the top ring to prevent over-rotation. Bit guards are recommended to reduce the risk of lip pinching.
Care note: Sweet iron naturally rusts with use, creating a taste that can improve acceptance.
